VISIT TO AL BARZA – Club for the Elderly
EESS, Dubai organized a visit to the Al Barza - Club for the Elderly in Dubai on 16th and 18th October 2011,
to enhance understanding of local norms, students’ civic responsibility and community service.
During the visit, the students of Grade 11 toured the facility and interacted with the residents where they attained a better
understanding of the environment offered at the Al Barza Club. They were introduced to the club's different departments
, facilities and activities. The students were also informed about the different health care facilities and social services
that Al Barza puts for its members, including psychiatric care, social support, health care, physiotherapy, training in hygiene
and nutrition, rehabilitation and occupational services.
The students presented the residents of the Barza Club with gifts, cards, fruits as a token of love to the elderly.
Coordinator Mrs. Ayesha Memon and Mrs. Iman mentioned such visit would instill in students a sense of civic responsibilty
, respect and love for elders in the family.
Coordinator for grade 11 Boys Mr.Jacob John and Mr. Hidayth Rasool shared their experience with the other students in the
class which motivated the boys of 9C to present a clipping in the class on the subject.
Jatin of Grade11D expressed that he would dedicate his time for such service sometime in his life. Tayyeba Hashmi of Grade11B said
“through this visit I have learnt that elders do need our attention and they see pleasure in love.”
The students commented that it was an unforgettable moment of their life and that this visit would result in much changed
behaviour towards their elders.
